How does it work?

The square 1:1 format (1080 × 1080 in 1080p) is applied straight away. Drop your video: it is shown in full in the center, on a blurred background.

Choose “Fill” on the right to make the video cover the whole square: the overflowing edges are cropped, and the center of the picture is kept.

A 1920 × 1080 video is scaled down to 1080 × 608 in the center of the 1080 × 1080 square, with 236 pixels of blurred background above and below.

A cropped portrait video

A 1080 × 1920 phone video in “Fill” mode keeps the central 1,080 pixels of its height, or 56% of the picture: the top and bottom are cropped.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I post a square video?
The 1:1 format displays large in Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn feeds. For stories, TikTok or Shorts, prefer the vertical 9:16 format, available in the top bar.
Can I choose which part is kept in “Fill” mode?
“Fill” mode keeps the center of the picture. If the subject is off to the side, use “Fit” with the blurred background instead: the whole picture stays visible.
Is there a 4:5 format?
Yes: the 4:5 format (1080 × 1350), close to square but taller, can be chosen in the editor’s top bar.
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. Files are read, edited and encoded in your browser, on your device. No video, image or music is uploaded: you can even disconnect once the page has loaded. Closing the tab erases the project.
