How does it work?

Drop your video: it is placed in the timeline. Drag the left edge of the clip to trim the start, and the right edge to trim the end. The preview shows the exact frame at the cut point, and the arrow keys move frame by frame.

To remove a section in the middle, place the playhead at the start of the section and press S (split), do the same at the end, select the piece and press Delete: the rest joins up automatically.

Finally, click Export: the trimmed video is encoded to MP4 (H.264 and AAC) on your device.

Examples

Keeping a 33-second clip

A 2 min 10 s video where only the section from 0:12 to 0:45 interests you: drag the left edge to 0:12 and the right edge to 0:45. The exported clip lasts 33 seconds, about 32 MB in 1080p.

Removing dead time in the middle

A 60 s video has a gap from 0:20 to 0:28. Split at 0:20 and 0:28 and delete the middle piece: the final video lasts 52 seconds (60 − 8), with no visible join between the two parts.

Frequently asked questions

Is the cut frame-accurate?
Yes. The video is decoded frame by frame during export: the first and last frames are exactly those shown in the preview. Use the ← and → arrows to move frame by frame (30 frames per second).
Is the quality reduced?
The video is re-encoded to H.264, in 720p or 1080p, at a high bitrate (8 Mbit/s in 1080p): the loss is invisible for everyday use. A 4K video is scaled down to 1080p.
Why isn’t my iPhone video accepted?
iPhones record in HEVC by default, a format not every browser can read. Open the editor in Safari on a Mac, or in Chrome or Edge on a recent computer. For your next videos, you can choose on the iPhone: Settings › Camera › Formats › “Most Compatible”.
Is there a length or size limit?
The final video can last up to 10 minutes, because the file is created in the browser’s memory. Imported videos can be up to 2 GB, audio files 500 MB and images 50 MB. For a long project, close other tabs and prefer exporting in 720p.
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. Files are read, edited and encoded in your browser, on your device. No video, image or music is uploaded: you can even disconnect once the page has loaded. Closing the tab erases the project.
