How does it work?

Drop your video: its sound is muted straight away. You can restore or adjust it at any time by unticking “Mute” in the right-hand panel.

To mute only one section, split the video at the start and end of that section (S key) and mute that piece alone.

If you like, add music to replace the original sound, then export to MP4.

A completely silent video

A 2-minute video exported without sound: the MP4 file only contains a video track, slightly smaller (about 114 MB in 1080p instead of 117 MB).

Muting a noisy section

In a 45 s video, a car horn sounds from 0:18 to 0:21: split at those two points and mute the 3-second piece. Add 0.3 s fades to the neighboring clips to avoid an abrupt cut.

Frequently asked questions

Is the sound really removed from the file?
Yes: when no clip has sound, the exported MP4 file contains no audio track. Nobody can recover the original sound.
Can I lower the sound instead of muting it?
Yes: untick “Mute” and set the volume from 0 to 200%. Fade in and fade out let you reduce it gradually.
Which browsers can export the video?
MP4 export uses WebCodecs technology, available in recent versions of Chrome and Edge, Firefox (130 or later) and Safari (16.4 or later). Encoding uses your computer’s hardware acceleration when available.
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. Files are read, edited and encoded in your browser, on your device. No video, image or music is uploaded: you can even disconnect once the page has loaded. Closing the tab erases the project.
